More Honors for Frogs

Five TCU football players have received All-America honors from Rivals.com.
(TCU Athletics, Fort Worth, TX)–TCU defensive end Jerry Hughes was a first-team selection. Jeremy Kerley was a second-team choice at punt returner, while center Jake Kirkpatrick, offensive tackle Marshall Newhouse and linebacker Daryl Washington were third-team picks.

DFW College Scoreboard

Don’t look now, but we have a sweep this weekend in local college football. The number 6 ranked TCU Horned Frogs took care of UNLV in their first shutout of the season. The SMU Mustangs won the battle of “Back up QB’s” against Tulsa, and the UNT Mean Green got their second win of the season. Next thing you know, the Cowboys will win too!

Frog News

The Horned Frogs will open the 2009 football season playing at Virginia on ESPNU. The game will be played on September 12 at 3:30 p.m. in Charlottesville at Scott Stadium. The Cavaliers will come to Fort Worth in 2012.

TCU’s Cannon is a Workout Warrior

TCU offensive tackle Marcus Cannon has been ranked as the No. 10 Workout Warrior in college football by ESPN The Magazine’s Bruce Feldman.

Frogs Graduate Twelve

Twelve Horned Frog football players received their TCU degree Saturday in commencement exercises on campus.

Five Frogs Drafted

Five TCU players were selected in the 2009 National Football League draft.

Linebacker Jason Phillips was the first pick in the fifth round by the
Baltimore Ravens, before three Horned Frogs were taken in the sixth round and another in the seventh.

Horned Frog to Receive Scholar Athlete Award

TCU tight end Shae Reagan will be recognized Wednesday night with a scholar-athlete award by the National Football Foundation Gridiron Club of Dallas.

Frogs Receive Early Honors

NationalChamps.net has named TCU defensive end Jerry Hughes a first-team preseason All-American with offensive tackle Marshall Newhouse an honorable-mention selection.

Hughes Named to Lott Trophy Watch List

TCU consensus All-America defensive end Jerry Hughes has been named to the 2009 Lott Trophy Watch List.

The award is named after Ronnie Lott, a former USC All-America safety and member of both the College Football and Pro Football Hall of Fame.
