If you can’t wait for football, then you are in luck. There is a big game on Saturday, August 15 in Dallas. The game is a powder puff, flag football game between Blondes and Brunettes. The game is an event organized to help raise money for the Alzheimer’s Association.

Check out the Blondes vs. Brunettes website and make plans to attend. To get in the act, WFAA TV’s Dale Hansen and Pete Delkus have a friendly wager on who can raise the most money. Hansen vs. Delkus is always a lot of fun to keep up with.

Check out these beauties take on a great cause!

Collin County, TX–On Saturday, July 11, 2009, the North Texas Crunch will host the IIFA Bowl II against the Texas Wranglers at the Blue Sky Sports Center in The Colony, Texas. The North Texas Crunch and the American Heart Association are teaming up on this special occasion to help tackle heart disease in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area, and we need your help.

The For nearly a century, cardiovascular diseases have been responsible for more deaths in the United States than any other cause, claiming a life every 37 seconds. You can make a difference. Help us create a world free of heart disease and stroke.

Since 1949, the American Heart Association has grown rapidly in size, financial resources, involvement with medical and non-medical volunteers, and influence — both nationally and internationally. The AHA moved the National Center from New York City to Dallas in 1975 to better serve affiliates and local divisions nationwide.

The volunteer-led affiliates and their divisions form a national network of local AHA organizations involved in providing research, education, and community programs and in raising money to support the association’s work. The network continues to gain strength as it expands at the grass-roots level.

Unfortunately, it still isn’t enough and more needs to be done. That’s where we all come in.

The North Texas Crunch are asking the great football fans of North Texas area to help us collect donations at the IIFA Bowl II championship game and on the North Texas Crunch website (http://www.crunchfootball.net/). The North Texas Crunch will donate half of our gate profits to the American Health Association in honor of our great fans.

As many of you know, the hurricane season is fast approaching. Many of us will never forget the year both Hurricanes Katrina and Rita battered the gulf coast. Every year thousands are affected by hurricane damage throughout the country. That’s where teams in the Dallas-Fort Worth area come in.

Starting on July 5, 2009, we are issuing a challenge to all of the DFW football teams including Women’s (Mustangs and Diamonds), semi-pro, minor league, eight-man, and indoor football teams to donate to the American Red Cross in preparation for the hurricane season. Here is how it works.

The fan, reader, player, etc. logs on to the American Red Cross’ website (www.american.redcross.org) and choose a fund to donate from. I am encouraging you to donate to the Disaster Relief Fund, but it is your choice. Make an online donation to the Red Cross to the fund you choose. You will receive an email receipt. Simply forward a copy of the receipt to charity@dfwfootball.net. In the email or subject line, indicate the football team that you represent.

That’s it. It is that simple. I will then tally the amount of money donated to the Red Cross in the name of said team. We allow two weeks for fans, players and readers to make their donation and email the receipts to me. All receipts must be emailed to me by July 18.

Then, in August, the team that wins, will have their logo or helmet displayed along with a notation of being the Charity Challenge winners on our website. We will place it prominently along with a link to your team.

This is a great chance to do something that is good, donating to the Red Cross, and a chance to show die-hard support for you team. Are you ready?
