Dallas Defenders engage in Operation Beat Chicago

The Dallas Defenders will be engaged in “Operation beat Chicago” on Saturday, March 31, 2012.

On the dfwfootball radio show, Kevin Souders, Defenders Middle Linebacker, told us that beating Chicago is the biggest hurdle they have to winning an National Public Safety Football League National Championship.

The Defenders got that journey started when they beat the Houston Gunners 38-0 on March 17th.  Now, it’s time for the Defenders to get ready for one of the toughest teams in the NPSFL.

Check out the image below the map for more info!

The game will be at 3 pm in Addison, TX at Trinity Christian School.

North Texas Stampede rumble to their first win of the season

In a game filled with turnovers, penalties, and rain, the North Texas Stampede notched their first win of the year in Minor Professional Football League action Saturday night.  The Stampede hosted a Texas Calvary team that had lost their first game in overtime to the Texas Knights and had tied the Dallas War Hawx 6-6 in double overtime in week 2.  The North Texas Stampede came into the game with a 0-2 record, with both losses coming to a pair of 2011 champions; The reining MPFL and National Champions, the San Antonio Warriors, and the 2011 Texas United Football League Champions, the Cooke County Outlaws.

After a scoreless first quarter, the Stampede took advantage of a Calvary turnover that put North Texas on the Calvary 5 yard line.  Two plays later, Lenny Williams (#10) would find the corner of the end zone to go up 7-0.

On the Stampede’s 7th possession of the first half, North Texas put together a drive that saw them earn 5 first downs.  Running back Julius Williams (#2) plunged in from 1st and goal to give the Stampede a 13-0 halftime lead.

Running back Antwan Andrews (#32) provided a much needed spark in the second half for the Calvary.  Andrews’ hard nosed running got the Calvary inside the 10 yard line on their opening drive of the 3rd quarter, only to have the Stampede take the ball away on QB fumble on the next play.

The Stampede put the game away on a Tramell Allen touchdown run on 3rd and goal early in the 4th quarter.  Allen, the fullback for the Stampede, was named co-player of the game by J.C. Kimey and myself.  Kimey, who is also the commissioner of the MPFL, had play-by-play duties, while I contributed with color commentary.  You can listen to the play call on deependmedia.net.

Cornelius Houston (#1) was also co-player of the game as he spearheaded a defense that had a very simple game plan installed.  They blitzed.  And blitzed some more.  And then they blitzed yet again.  Houston provided an interception right before halftime and was a consistent nuisance in the Calvary offensive backfield.   Nose Tackle Steven Williams (#75) was also a main culprit of a defense that shut out the Texas Calvary.

The Stampede defense forced 4 turnovers and blocked a field goal to secure the shut out 25-0.

Running back Keith Davis (#22), who ran stronger as the game progressed, added a touchdown late in the 4th quarter.

While the Calvary offense struggled throughout most of the game, their defensive line was stellar.  Keith Lee (#99) led a tough d-line unit that included; Kourtney Ollie (#94), Justin Reeves (#92), and Raymond Davis (#52).

The North Texas Stampede (1-2) travel to Murphy, Texas next week to take on the Garland Aztecs (0-3).

The Texas Calvary (0-2-1) will return home to Waxahachie to take on the Temple Panthers (2-1).

Dallas Defenders begin home stand this week

The Dallas Defenders will begin a two-game home stand starting this Saturday, March 17, 2012.  The Defenders will have four total games, but home games will be the first two.  The second game will be March 31, 2012.

The Defenders are the area’s only National Public Safety Football League team representing the men and women in fire, police and paramedic uniforms.

The Defenders have had plenty of success in their short history claiming:

2009, 2010, 2011 Southwest Region Champions

2010 National Championship Finalist

The games will be played at Tom Landry Stadium in Addison, TX.

In addition, the Defenders will also include the Spirit Girls!

Introducing the 2012 Spirit Girls

The Spirit Girls are the cheerleaders for the Dallas Defenders. I am told, that one of the girls is actually a police officer.

Beautiful and tough!

Also, you can find them on Facebook.

You can meet the girls on March 17th and 24th as the Defenders host their first two games.
