Special Teams

Special teams are a little bit of a question mark coming into the season. Kickoff specialist David Buehler will see if field goals and extra points are in his future in Big D. If not, a veteran kicker may have to be brought in. There are a plethora of potential returners available including rookie Wide Receiver Dez Bryant when he returns to the lineup.

Draft Impact

As far as the draft is concerned, Bryant could have an immediate impact. His size, talent, athletic ability, and overall explosiveness make him hard for defenders to ignore in favor of another receiver, meaning less double coverage on Austin. With the mentoring of the vets, Sean Lee and Brandon Williams could develop quickly and nicely and could see some playing time if injuries arise.

Schedule

The schedule is again tough. With their bye week in week four, they will play their final thirteen games without a break. With dates at Minnesota, Green Bay, and Indy, and at home against New Orleans, there is no shortage of top tier opponents. The division games are an interesting crapshoot with McNabb and Shanahan now in Washington. The remaining schedule features Chicago, Houston, Tennessee, Jacksonville, Detroit, and Arizona.

With a high ranking offense and defense(both of which could rise even higher), a nice draft, and the continuity of the coaching staff, the Cowboys should find themselves in the mix come playoff time. Only then will we find out if more playoff wins and a potential home Super Bowl date are in the works.
