Coach Truman Vernon and the DFW Xpress advanced to the semi-finals of the NMLF playoffs Saturday by knocking off ATX Tigers. The Xpress will take on the League leading San Antonio Warriors who stormed through the league after being a late entrant.
If the Xpress, who are playing well led by quarterback Tre Fields, are able to knock off the Warriors, they will play advance to the NMLF championship game to play for the Magnum Cup on May 30 in Dallas. They would play the winner of the other semi-final game between the North Texas Falcons and the West Texas Drillers.
The Falcons advanced by beating East Texas Storm 27-26. The Falcons, from Wichita Falls, is league’s second seed. The the third seeded Drillers, from Midland, defeated West Texas Outlaws in a “best of the west” showdown 25-15.
The San Antonio Warriors knocked off the other DFW team in the area in Saturday’s playoffs, the North Texas Seminoles. Congratulations to Coach Dewayne Gordan and his Seminoles who salvaged a disappointing season by upsetting the Texas Mavericks in the league’s wildcard round.
